Paypal and Echecks

Can someone explain Echecks (recieveing a recurring payment to paypal) to me? i see alot of guides online that i have to allow echecks in some settings menu, but their all for old paypal and the menus don't exist anymore. my new employer is pressuring me for a payment method before i start, and i can't figure out how the hell to accept money from them.
