I never owned a PS3 or Xbox 360 before, all I got as a kid was an N64, an Xbox Classic and tons of arcade games. I'm about to turn 29 years old.
This year I was finally able to get a gaming laptop and make all my kid and teenager dreams come true, just to find that some genres I used to love as a child are not there anymore.
I always dreamt about playing the Gears of War series and tried Gears 1, 2, 4 and a bit of 5. Combat was great but my mind kept telling me "this is good, but it's just a generic game". Played Halo 3, Doom 2016, Battlefield 1 and a bit of Doom Eternal, felt absolutely the same.
It seems that my love for FPS games has gone forever, or at least that I don't enjoy them that much as an adult.
The same goes for fighting, racing and soccer games, I used to love them as a child. Got KOF XIII, a game I always dream of playing, but found out that I didn't have the patience to learn the new moves and get better at it.
I feel kinda guilty for it, but I guess it's just a part of growing up. My music taste it's not the same as well, I only listened to metal and hard rock then, now I really enjoy 80's pop and alternative rock bands, as well as j-rock and shoegaze bands.
Not everything is bad news, though. I just started playing a lot of 2D Metroidvania Castlevania games and now Castlevania has become one of my favorite franchises, I even got a poster of Aria of Sorrow for my room, that's how much I loved this franchise now.
Played RDR1 as well. I think my inner child would have found this game boring AF, but it was a great experience playing it until recently as an adult.
What about you?
PD: If you know about a game of the genres I mentioned that would probably scratch that itch again, please tell me in the comments.
TLDR: I don't enjoy FPS, racing, fighting and soccer games that much now as an adult.
Definitely trying to screw you. Don’t replace what isn’t broken. Have a company figure out leak and repair that only
