What are the games that really made you feel something?
Post Body

I think over the years you could definitely argue video games have really evolved into an art form, it's gone from a few pixels on a screen into a way to tell a story in a way that a movie or a t.v. show never could. Video games are in the unique position of you being the one in control, and can shape their narratives around that.

I feel like in the past 5-10 years theirs been a massive influx of brilliant narrative driven games that can test your emotions. The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, God of War, The Witcher 3. Games with fantastic and complex characters like Geralt, and Kratos and Joel. I really think the rise in the quality of voice acting also has helped this massively, The Last of Us really wouldn't have the same punch without the brilliant performances of Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson.

Subnautica is one of my absolute favourite games of all time for this very reason. I played on the hardest mode with permadeath from the start and it made those deeper journeys even more harrowing. I died so many times but didn't mind starting over because I loved it so much, and when I finally managed to get through it all in one go, it was such an incredible release.

Totally agree. Closest I've ever come to tears playing a game.

Love this game so much. It was the one that turned me on to the so called 'walking simulator' games that I've really enjoyed since as well, like Dear Esther.
