Recently I played through D2 and really had an awesome time with it. I've just been in love with immersive sim like games for awhile. Just with the always online, service games that are the new hotness these days, Its fun to just play a true brilliantly designed single player game. Recently playing through Deus Ex HR and Prey (2017) Its been such a blast.
I played through Dishonored 1 around when it came out. Really enjoyed it as well. but with D2 the main highlights were the level design, freedom of choice, exploration. Its a satisfying game once you start using the abilities and mastering the systems at play.
The two best levels I think most people agree with is the clockwork mansion and Aramis Stilton's Manor. I think levels 1-3 are mostly a cakewalk, trying to ease you into the flow of the game. In my opinion. With mission 4 the clockwork mansion I think is the real test. They introduce the clockwork soldiers, and some really creative level design. Also with Aramis Stilton's level to me felt almost revolutionary with a new mechanic they introduce. I don't want to spoil it but its really interesting.
As people know there's the chaos system. if you don't kill a lot of people and have a mostly stealth playthrough. The world will be less bleak and you'll get an optimistic ending. I always like being the good guy in video games, so I went with this style of play.
Which I didn't mind. The only thing with stealth games is there's going to be some frustration. reloading a save multiple times in a row to clear a room without an alarm going off. I recommend for new people to the genre is just play how you want. Sometimes I would just sit on a roof for several minutes just waiting for a good opportunity and I understand that not everyone is into that style of game.
I played as Emily which was a great. I wish overall the story had more twists and turns in it. no spoilers but the first game had a pretty good twist in it. This game in terms of story is very one note. You have the motivation for this quest your on and that's it. Also I would have liked more choices in this game. I'm a huge fan of the Witcher games, especially Witcher 2. In that game you get a pretty major choice to side with a faction and it changes the game significantly.
Overall it was fantastic going to be thinking about this game for awhile. Which was the same feeling I had after playing Prey (2017). Not to sound like old man yelling at a cloud, but a lot of games these days have a lot of empty calories and micro transaction fluff. Playing these games really just blows me away, compared to most games these days.
looking forward to playing death of the outsider for the first time and look at other games that are similar.
