Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great game. But a bit boring..
Post Body

So I recently got RDR2 for PS4, after thoroughly enjoying the first game on PS3.

The game is absolutely gorgeous and the story is really captivating, plus there is an incredible amount to do.

I’m generally the type of player who wants to complete every single quest in the story, yet once I reached chapter 5 I started to feel the need to gun for the story missions. It just feels like a drag at this point.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the story is great, but there is just so. much. dead. time. As I’m typing this, my horse is auto-piloting me from wherever I was to my next objective. And I feel like this has been too much of my gaming experience: the travelling from point A to B.

A lot of time I felt like visiting a shop, or doing a quest etc, but I found I would push that back because just getting there would take me literal minutes of nothing. And let’s not act as if driving the horse around is entertaining, it gets old pretty soon.

Sure, you may tell me to admire the scenery, which is indeed pretty stunning, but I’m not playing this game for sightseeing: I’m playing it for the story, and the gunfights.

And here lies another issue with this game. The gunfights are fun but they are all literally the same: hide, reload, shoot, repeat.

And all story missions seem the same as well: go someplace and attempt to do something quietly, somewhat succeed, shoot a freaking army of bad guys with terrible aim (how many O’Driscolls are there?).

Is it just me?

Edit: to clarify, I know cinematic camera allows you to travel afk. That’s what I meant with horse auto-piloting. It doesn’t make it any less boring. And I also know fast travel/carriage is a thing, but as they are implemented they’re super clunky to use and almost useless.

Shhh. You can't disagree. They'll hear you. And they'll come.

Ah crap, I think I see them coming! "go play minecraft nub, leave the big boy westerns to us 7th graders", crap, they are here! "don't like it, don't play it! simple as that. dont post that shit here." Oh crap, they cut the power!"How could they cut the power man, their animals!" :P

I have four words for you!

What is your point? I even italicized mine for extra emphasis, which instantly makes my point more important. He bought the game, same as everyone else. He can play it however the F he wants and come here and let us know about it. And you have the same right to come in here and be that guy. Please don't be that guy.

Not even sure what you were trying to convey with the RPG thing. That since it's an RPG, the things he described are normal and par for the course? Yeah, no. I love RPGs and massive amounts of downtime aren't just part of playing an RPG. The same can be said about the gunplay in this game. It does become really repetitive when almost all gun fights are just as OP said. Shoot, hide, peak and shoot, rinse and repeat. You may like that, he doesn't, both are fine.

Nice try being that guy though.

My reply makes me a cunt? Damn. Hate to see what you think of me when I take off the kid gloves.
I was replying to the meaningless "Three words, RPG" comment. It was sarcastic and just plain irrelevant. So, I followed suit and replied in the same tone. I have to ask though, as you read what I said, at one point did you think I was a cunt? I'm serious, I want to know what thing I said was the moment you decided to cunt me?

And it is a decision. I'm generally VERY understanding of other people when I reply.

C'mon man, don't leave me hanging! Which one of my many deserving sentences put it in stone that Me, dysphunktion, am absolutely a cunt.?
