Hello fellow patient gamers,
Last week I’ve purchased a second hand ps4 pro with 2 controllers and 9 games (discs), including U4.
10 years ish ago, I’ve already bought a second hand ps3 just to play The last of us part 1. After beating this one, a friend of mine gave me Uncharted 3 but it didn’t hooked me then. I didn’t finish it and returned the disc to my friend. He was surprised I didn’t like it, so was I somehow. Maybe was it because I came from TLoU, mesmerized, and the pace of U3 just didn’t match with me, too fast sometimes, too cinematic, too cheesy, or maybe was it TLoU being too good to me and serious compared to U3?
Well, this time U4 felt more than a good fit. Meanwhile I’ve became a father, gained experience. I somehow connected with Nath, middle age man, with a big bro, a father’s figure taking care (Sullivan) of them. Even the love relationship between Nath and Elena feels realistic and relatable (Nath is an ass somewhere in this story and realizes it later on)
Despite the airplane sound of my new console, I’ve been in awe so many times playing this game. Some scenes are incredibly gorgeous. Stunning panoramic shots and clever climbing mechanics mixed altogether, nothing felt clumsy. The only frustration I’ve had was the fact I couldn’t make Nath run faster sometimes.
The actions and pace are really good. 20 hours of gameplay and I never got bored once. I even found myself shouting “hell yeah !” at some scenes/actions.
The main story is enticing. The way naughty dog managed to tell Nath’ story through childhood with his brother until the end of the game is flawless. Never went into pathetic stuff. Their long time quest doesn’t interfere with the action, the plot. It’s all well connected and it gave some kind of rewarding feeling when I reached their goal.
This game gives a sense to the say “step by step”, to efforts and choices in life, what you get and what you have to let go on the counterpart.
At the end, I gave some applause to credits. U4 is not a life changer to me, but it clearly is a great game. Sic parva magna.
Next in line, The last of us part 1 remastered. I just have to find the right moment to fire it.
Cheers all
