I remember absolutely falling in love with the premise of this game. A revenge story so potent and so agonizing, a team full of actually morally dubious characters, aside from the obvious two, and a gameplay system that felt fantastic once you got going, and rewarded you for grinding your heart out.
I put the game down for about two years after 60 hours; I just burned out on it. Yesterday, I finally finished it, and was it worth it?…
Not really.
Unfortunately, I put tge game down just before tge very final section, a rather annoying puzzle dungeon leading up to the final boss, in which I was very interested.
Unfortunately again, upon finally reaching the final boss, I found myself a bit let down. It wasnt all that dramatic a confrontation, and in fact seemed to go by pretty quickly. I was underwhelmed by the Shepard and his end, and I was more disappointed by the fact that everything just kinda turned out okay in the end.
I suppose I was under the impression that we were out to end the world, you know, cause a Calamity. I was prepared for a bitter end, I wanted to see the world burn, like the cast had been talking about the entire game. But in the end, it all felt a bit flaccid and rushed. I was even more disappointed to find out that none of it mattered in Zestiria.
I loved every moment of this game’s story, right up until the ending, which was a huge blow. Overall, I think I maybe shouldve just left it in my memory.
