Games need a balance of gameplay and story
Post Body

I’ve seen a couple post on this topic taking slightly extreme stances (that might be a poor choice of words). I tend to say that I don’t like story focused games (despite that not really being the case) due to a lot of the ones that I see having this Hollywood action movie feel that I find obnoxious, the PlayStation exclusives I’ve played feel this way to me, although I think a part of the problem is that I seem to have some form of sensory issues. Another problem is that a lot of story focused games tend to be too easy for my taste. For games that do their story well, I feel like This War Of Mine and Darkest Dungeon do it well in a similar way to how one of the other posts I mentioned described Splatoon. Some games do a good job making the gameplay the story in a way that feels more engaging compared to something like the Teltale games. A couple examples are Her Story, and Return Of The Obra Dinn.

TLDR (in case I word this poorly): I think that story in games isn’t bad, it’s games trying to be cinematic.
