I've always been a fan of horror games but what I've come to realise is that, for me at least, less is often more when it comes to the genre. There are so many horror games I've played where I feel scared, apprehensive, and tense in the beginning, but a few hours down the line and that tension has worn off and my feelings start to stray into annoyance at being captured or killed for the millionth time (Visage, Alien:Isolation, Outlast for example). But Love, Sam is just a couple of hours long, so it kept that tension up for me the whole time and I loved it. If you are a fan of the horror genre, I really recommend you pick this game up.
However, it is one of those games where you don't actually do much other than interact with some objects, and there's a lot of reading in it. So if that puts you off, I wouldn't bother. But if that's the kind of thing you enjoy then it's a great way to spend 2 hours. Obviously I'm going to give nothing away, but there were some truly creepy moments where my hair stood on end and I got chills right through me, and it's definitely a game that will stay with me for a while. Another odd thing to note is that you can't invert the y-axis, which I always do. I tried to play without inverting but it was so off-putting that I couldn't enjoy the game. But thankfully, I managed to find a workaround to it, posted on a GOG forum page here.
