Blade Vortex - spell damage and poison mechanics

Post Body

Alrighty, so I am trying a poison build with blade vortex again and stumbled a bit on the mechanics of poison. I think I am now almost certain that I know how it works except for the effect of spell damage.

It says poison is taken from the base damage of the skill. So far so good. Now the base damage of the skill of Blade Vortex can be increased by spell damage. But if I do that the poison damage stays the same.

Now if I, for example, equip a belt that increases global physical damage, the damage of Blade Vortex AND poison is increased.

Am I missing something here?

I mean, poison damage is chaos so it alone couldn't be increased by the belt. That would mean the belt increased the base damage of Blade Vortex and thus also the poison damage.

But why isn't this the case with spell damage?

Maybe I am overlooking something very simple but it seems someone has to point it out to me first.

btw I don't know if there is a specific subreddit (like for builds) where I should have posted this question instead. I am totally new to this. :D

Any feedback on post formating are also welcomed.
