Im probably not the only one that thinks that the current way map drops works is a little bit shallow and boring. I mean when you get to level 75 for example, the XP on docks and sarn is pretty poor and if you run out of maps you are forced to grind one of these places in order to get maps, or group with other people. Since Im a person that likes to play solo as much as possible I thought of a whacky way to get maps.
What if there was some kind of arena implemented, divided in 3 difficulty levels: one for 66 maps, one for 67 and one for 68. So you would enter these arenas (solo only, maybe even for a price) depending on which map level you want out of it. Each arena would be something like 3 waves of mobs: for a 66 map the first wave would be mobs level 69, 2nd 70 and 3rd 71. And then once you defeat all three waves you get a (random type) lvl 66 map. This way you give the playr the option of doing some harder level content with a guaranteed map as a reward, fitting with the philosophy of risk-reward that the game is built around.
This wouldnt be abused by higher level players because they probably already have enough maps to not worry about it, and because the map rewards are too low level for them to be worth spending so much time abusing this system. In softcore you may think it isnt really that much risk/reward, but if you go with that mentality and you end up dying a lot, its not even worth it anymore because you end up losing more experience than you gain when you finally get the map. This is all coming from a person that plays mostly solo, for a player that groups to grind maps its not that big of a problem, but I still think this is an interesting idea to explore.
