Parrots and glasses - do we actually know why?
Post Body

Photo of him sucking his thumb for tax

My YCM and most other birds I've had in my life are fiends for glasses, they steal them, try take them off, latch onto them and just adore/hate them depending on the day.

I've noticed it's worse in moulting periods and have noticed at times my boy tries to preen the legs of them as if they're encased feathers and he's trying to help.

Unfortunately I'm blind asf and contacts aren't an option to me. Are there any good workarounds or ideas of if there's any research into the behaviour?

As human:bird contact goes we have a pretty good communication system. He talks and knows what different things mean, for example he'll call me a good boy if I do the right thing/ guess successfully and I've trained him to tap his beak 5 times on things if he wants them/they're bothering him (for example more food, water, toys frustrating him etc).
