I work in personal injury. Two years ago, I was tasked to get a deposition from a doctor that performed surgery on our client. Four times this man rescheduled on us after paying him a retainer. When the case settled, he refused to give us a refund and said the money would go towards a credit.
Now I have a new attorney. For the most part I liked him, he is more green than the other attorneys I worked for. But he seems eager to learn new things.
We needed to schedule a deposition with this doctor. I finally had a good date and set everything up 3 months ago. Yesterday approached. Everything was confirmed. We even had a hiccup, but all of us agreed to postpone for another hour.
Then at the very end of my lunch hour, my attorney comes in my office and said he did not feel prepared to question the doctor. We didn't have a curriculum vitae. I looked everywhere and never got a clear response from he office on if they have one to send us. So he wanted to postpone this deposition. Thankfully we are not being charged a cancellation fee.
I am just...defeated. I think this is the last of my clients that has dealt with this doctor and I just want to use this credit and get over this. I get he is new and wants to do this case correctly (it's the star case for us right now), but wish he brought this up yesterday. Anyways, rant over.
