I hope a vent is ok. I just don't know where to go about this with people who would understand. I work at a personal injury law firm and was assigned to this attorney because her paralegal decided to quit due to covid vaccination policy.
I got my paralegal title by experience and circumstance. I never went to school for it. I just always took on more tasks and skills until they made it official.
We had trial coming up for one of our major cases and it would have been my first trial. I thought despite my inexperience, I was doing alright. But then a few months ago, my attorney told me she managed to get her old paralegal back to help, but that would mean I had to be moved to another attorney. Her reasoning was that she needed someone with Federal court experience.
So yeah, for a while my feelings were hurt. I still made the best out of that situation.
They had trial today and we settled for a pretty penny. All of teams keeps congratulating the attorney and the new paralegal.
I am not saying she didn't do any work. I am sure she did a lot. But my name is on a lot of those filings too. So now I feel all hurt again because I felt like I really could have done a good job on it. And yes, I would like to, for once, receive credit on one of my cases that I had for years. Anyways, that's my pity party.
