The client is a young adult who we submitted a diversion package for. We had our client respond to the allegations in the complaint and then I typed them up with more professional language.
However an incident in high school involving sharing a Rule 34 picture required some explanation on what that term means.
I wrote the following which was left unedited by my attorney (paraphrased to avoid any connection as the client is 22 and has an internet presence)
“The term “Rule 34” is a common slang phrase that refers to the concept that due to the vastness and overtly sexual nature of the Internet as a whole, any conceivable concept, object or idea has been sexualized.”
Never in my life did I think I would ever have to explain Rule 34 in a legal context.
