First off, the devs have done an amazing job as far as balancing and character development goes. I did not see anyone necessarily abusing cards, characters abilities, or anything else from the games I played. I loved the aesthetics of the map, especially the winter theme that they have going. Even the small little details were incredible and I could have just explored the map for a while if I had the time. The new card and gem system is different for sure, but I think this is the faster, right direction they need to take this game. It will take some getting used to for someone like me to memorize early, mid, and late game cards to use, but that comes with practice I'm sure. I also would love to interment voice comms with a simple push to talk feature. It would make communicating with teammates much faster and more efficient when someone like me wants to solo queue. I have been wary of all these changes when they first started, but now that it is coming to the end of Beta, I think Epic is on the right track with this game.
With all that being said, one thing will keep me from playing this game. The toxicity of every. single. game that I played was ridiculous. It was not directed at me until the last game that I played for the day. People were just attacking one another for missed plays, or worse, their own mistakes and blaming others. It costed me 4 games in a row and people would quit after one tower would go down. I would try and remain positive for the team and encourage, but no one cares and blames everyone else for bad plays except themselves. An example I encountered was while I was playing support. My carry decided to go TDM mode at level 3 and went for a kill instead of farming. I was not prepared for this random and unpredictable movement. I launched a 30 foot stun out of desperation, missed, and my carry missed about 5 to 6 shots herself as Sparrow. She got tagged against an enemy Sparrow that did not miss a shot. The rest of the game, the Sparrow followed me, writing toxic things in chat, reported me, and shot me over and over for the rest of the game. This is just one example of what I encountered all day. I think the lack of comms may be part of the problem. Not being able to move communicate plays with teammates could seem like someone is not helping, but rather they had no idea what job they needed to be doing, or someone that may need help due to a gank.
I will continue to give this game hope for the future. I will not come back again however if I cannot get through a single game without extreme toxicity. Thanks everyone for taking the time and reading this.
TL;DR: The devs are doing a great job with the direction they have for the game. Toxic teammates will be the reason that I do not return.
