I know that Ejiro Evero is an up and coming coach, and that he has built solid defenses in the past but…
I think we need to move on from him after this season. We do not have the personnel to employee his defensive strategies and Dan Morgan didn’t do him any favors as he focused on rebuilding the offense this past offseason.
We should bring in someone like Robert Saleh, he runs a hybrid defense that incorporates both 4-3 and 3-4 schemes, and will be a better fit with Dan Morgan’s own professional experience.
This isn’t an indictment of Evero as a coach, but is much more that we need to cut the losses on the current defensive experiment and bring in fresh ideas and a fresh mind. It is unfair to him and to us as a team to keep going down this path.
We have had a lot of injuries and lost a lot of players, which is not the coach’s fault (except maybe Frankie Luvu) but regardless there just doesn’t seem to be a fire there in the defense, from the coach or the players. That to me is the biggest sign it’s time for a change.
