This past week, I've been reflecting Panthers Nation, and I want to share my thoughts. Maybe it'll even ease a little anxiety for this coming season.
Wilks had the team on the tracks last year. The team rallied around him and id argue that 6 of the last 8 games of that year the Panthers played WAY above their talent level.
Wilks gets the hokey poke. That legitimately hurt the lockerroom.
Frank Reich comes in, all star staff, blasay blah...
The lockerroom never gets won over, add to that a dysfunctional laden staff...
Frank didn't have a chance in hell at succeeding. Forget about Bryce, forget about DJ and Burns and all the fuckery for a minute and realize y'all
What we saw this season was a team that sent their heart to San Francisco and couldn't find it again.
I think that all this talk about Tepper being impossible and meddling is getting more press because it's easier to do than to throw a genuinely good person, and good coach under the bus by saying the truth.
The truth is that no coach could have come in and succeeded. Look at LV. Same thing happened with Bassaccia(sp?) and McDaniels never had a shot. He was the rebound. Just like Frank was.
But just like with everything, time heals all wounds. The players now see what happens on an NFL team if your hearts not REALLY in it.
It was an abject failure by the coaching staff and 90% of the players. And Tepper is mad because he's not dumb. He knows he made the wrong decision, and he knows why. Dan is respected where Scott was not. Canales brings a resume that basically shows himself to be the reason for offensive success on a team. He's respected by his players and I'm not sure how many of y'all are seeing TB feeds, but they are legit devastated and there talk about now Bowles might be in trouble for his job.
This isn't a "dream team" Panther Nation. For the first time in about a decade, it got built in the right order. There's comfortability and working relationships.
This is how to start the culture rebuild, by allowing a culture to develop organically.
I think Canales can win the lockerroom.
It's that time again though. Time to load up the pipe with hopium, take a big drag, and let's start getting behind our team.
KEEP POUNDING
