Conan O'Brian and Andy Richter. It would be a very different flavour to the British one I understand that. But what you would lack in schadenfreude from the host you would gain a lot more in enjoyment the host would get at watching comics outsmart a task or over think a solution or what not.
Some fun first season contestants would be Zac Galifanakis, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Hart, Tig Notaro, Bert Kriescher, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Tina Fey.
Alternatively I also think Tina Fey would make a great task master with Rachel Dratch as the side kick
