I am a 23m, I woke up with otherworldly pain in my left abdomen on Saturday morning, went to the hospital, got blood work, CT scan, and an ultrasound done. They diagnosed me with acute pancreatitis. The ultrasound viewed my gallbladder and they said it looked perfectly fine. So they chalked my pancreatitis up to drinking. I was drinking the night before i had 7-8 drinks, and drink casually on the weekends. i’ve been drinking for about 5-6 years now. I always take a slew of medicine, including gabapentin, propranolol, xanax, Trazadone as needed, and an RC drug called diclazepam (an analogue of valium). Now when i drink i still do take all my prescribed meds and my RC drug as I am using it to taper off of benzos. I also smoke. From what i’ve researched i’m very young to have pancreatitis and I just want to know if i’m ever going to be able to drink again even occasionally. I also wonder since I take this RC chemical in liquid form if it could be affecting my pancreas in some way. I know the base of the solution contains alcohol, and from what I know it is made up solely of the chemical itself and a safe base. This is all so shocking to me. I know i’ve been playing with fire by drinking on medication especially benzos for years but i never thought i’d be in this position especially at this age. I’ve been in the hospital since Saturday morning being monitored and am set to go home tomorrow. The doctor said i can smoke when i go home but absolutely no alcohol. I just wanna know if i sentenced myself to sobriety for life by using this toxic combo for 5-6 years, and also if i’m going to create more flare ups using my RC drug to taper off of benzos.
