Previous history of heavy drinking (5-6 years, have stopped for about 9 months)
used to have consistent shaped and dark stool. now for four years: very frequent (2-5 times a day) light brown, yellowish, sometimes clay colored stools. odd shapes, textures, and sizes. rarely stool is multi colored, darker and lighter on either side. while drinking would often have oily floating stool, sometimes with visible fat in stool, now this is not as common as well formed light brown/yellow stools, but still happens intermittently. stools almost always sink.
very often see white mucus in stool
generally feel a constant need to have a bowel movement.
sometimes see undigested food in stool, mostly vegetables like lettuce
about 3 years ago went to ER for this, had abdominal CT scan that looked good
also had a colonoscopy in 2020 that ruled out issues there
almost no pain, but sometimes very brief sensations in middle or RUQ, very infrequent
no problems with weight loss, in fact I have a hard time keeping weight off
no problems with nausea or vomiting
very high heart rate, high blood pressure, (seeing cardiology about this) - but worried these things may be related.
tried cutting out gluten, saw positive changes in color for about a month, but problems have returned
bentyl/dicyclomine seems to help control frequent movements and seems to help with color
I'm going to a gastroenterologist in two days, and I'm terrified I've done permanent damage to myself.
Any thoughts on these symptoms? Is there anything I should specifically request from the doctor?
