My wife is a general manager of a popular restaurant in the Indian Wells area.

Yesterday, a woman came in who sat down and had a meal and when it was time for her to leave she asked for her check and a manager. She told my wife she is a member of the Cherokee Nation and she is suing the mayor of IW for stealing their land and will not be paying her check due to this. She said that they can send the bill to him if they want it paid.

My wife was more shocked than anything and really didn’t want to get into an argument with this woman about this so she just let it go but suggested she leave her server a tip. The woman declined and left.

I don’t want to make this into a political thing. Just wanted to let restaurant owners and management know.
