Staying walking distance of downtown - what’s good?

I’m going to be staying with some friends close to downtown Palm Springs, what are some good breakfast places, bars, or suggestions for anything that are nearby to walk to? I know a lot of posts are asking things similar but a lot of the suggestions are a bit further away. I heard the street fair is going on around now, is this true? Thank you in advance for any insight!
