A need of assistance for places to camp/sleep

I’ll be passing through Palm Springs very late for a field studies class that’ll be held early in the morning on a weekend.
I’m having trouble looking for an area to rest either camp or sleep in my car at night the day before. I have been looking for a few spots online but I want to hear from the community or anyone in the area first. If I can’t find a solution I’ll just pay for a hotel for one night. But please any help would be appreciated
