Train Station Parking

Anyone take the train to the city daily? I just started doing this a few weeks ago and an considering buying a commuter parking pass. Just curious on thoughts about best lot to park in or if the garage permit parking is best. Currently i do the public parking in the garage but its always a race to the top to make the train in time and takes forever to get out.(lets assume getting there earlier just isn't something that will happen)
