What supplies should I get my son for Xmas?

My 7 year old son has taken to art at school. I have bought him some cheap canvases and water based paints, and now I have some beautiful paintings around my house.
I feel like I have only got him the basics, so for Xmas I would like to get him some "proper" supplies. I have never been artistic in that way, so I'm not sure what to get him! I know he would love an easel, but are their other things I should get? Should he start using acrylic paints? If so, what do I need to clean brushes, etc?
