I m planning to attach some square tubing i bought with no weld brackets to my 5x8 trailer for an RTT mount. If any suggestions on the actual mount I'd appreciate it but my main question is .....
How would you prep and paint the tubing for more functionality than appearance ? Metal is raw My prelim thought Light sand for burrs Wipe with iso alcohol for grease etc Primer ( what type etching ? Rust-Oleum self etching , non automotive type or automotive ?
Than finish coat 2 to 3 light caots, any recs ? I think I don't need to sand down the metal since I'm using self etching primer. Anyone confirm ?
Inside of metal prep? Or such? Or just some plastic caps to keep moisture etc out?
One thing I would add to your thought process is to consider using spray on truck bedliner for your final paint coats. It is pretty durable, especially compared to regular paint
