Has anyone ever resoldered an ihs back onto a chip?

So someone on craigslist near me is selling a delidded 5950x along with a direct die cooler. I personally don't have much interest in the direct die cooler unless it is going to blow me away or something like that but I would prefer to reattach the ihs to the cpu. I know liquid metal would also accomplish the job but I'm curious is soldering it back is even an option at this point.
