New to overclocking here!
Post Body

HI there! I am a complete newbie to overclocking. Just finished my new build and wanted to see if I did it right. I have a ryzen 2600x, Asus Prime x470 and Corsair Dominator 3200mhz C16 ram. I'm looking to get the best every day use out of my ram. My bios had the ram set at 2133mhz automatically. I just recently bumped it to 3000mhz with a 16-16-16-36 timing at 1.35V. I left all the other settings in my bios on auto.

Couple of questions:

  1. Will I even be able to tell a difference in everyday use when overclocking ram? I'm mainly gaming and sometimes streaming on this new computer.
  2. Did I overclock right? My computer seems to be running, but I don't know how to spot that I put in values wrong or it is not working. What signs should I look for?
  3. I read that ram overclocking is different between intel and ryzen. Can anyone help go further in depth about that?
  4. What other settings in my bios should I be changing as I left the rest of the settings on auto?

Thanks for helping. I looked at the FAQ a little, but it didn't really help.

Edit: so after reading abit more, according to some research, the 2600x only supports up to 2933mhz ram??? Can someone correct me on that?

Also the 2600x changed on its own after i changed the ram speed. Went from 3.8ghz to 4.05 with a varying voltage of 1.38-1.43? I didnt touch any cpu settings. Is this normal?
