Post Body

Hello folks. I'm having some thermal issues and I wanted to check in here to see if I'm overlooking anything. My voltage seems to be on the better side from what I've seen but I'd love another set of eyes on this. Passing 1 hour Realbench stress tests at 88c. No crashes in my day to day activities either. I won't be able to delid for at keast two weeks so I need a stable setup until then for gaming, video editing, and VR use.

My main concern is that as I lower the voltage (I started at 1.25) thermals remain nearly the same. Am I doing something wrong? I woiuld have thought that 0.4-0.5v would translate to at least 10c off max temps.

Current setup:

  • 8700k (no delid) 4.8 Ghz

  • Asus Z370-E

  • H100i V2 (ML120 Pro's in push/pull config)

  • Corsair Vengence LPX 3000 mhz (2×8)

  • Seasonic SS-660PX2 Power Supply

  • 1080 Ti EVGA FTW3 Hybrid

  • balanced power plan in windows

  • Total of 9 ML 120 fans total in case

The following BIOS changes I've made following the d8auer guide and a few others. I'm aiming for a stable low temp 4.8 overclock until I'm able to delid it.

  • MCE (off)

  • Sync all cores (48)

  • AVX (0)

  • cache ratio has not been touched

  • LLC has not been touched

  • Vcore set to manual @ (1.21)

Thanks for looking
