Someone said in an earlier post about how they’d like to see an animalistic Prime Asset to fill the role of a family pet.
I had an idea for a character like this. His name would be Grigori Barkov, but his nickname is Akula, a name a he got in the military (which is Russian for “shark”).
He would fit the role of a family pet. Gooseberry is the mother, Coyle is the father, and Franco is the son, so Akula is the family’s pet, attacking anything that intrudes upon his domicile, regardless of their intentions, and feeling a deep sense of loyalty and duty. He’s not doing what he does out of sadism, but out of a desire to serve a greater purpose, like a soldier or a doctor.
He’s a very tall, strongly built 28-year-old white man with a bald head, and an outfit that is highly reminiscent of what a Russian soldier would wear when not in combat (a blue and white short-sleeved telynashka tucked into a pair of brown combat pants, a black leather belt, black combat boots, and he’d wield a hammer in his right hand as his main weapon). He is somewhat handsome, but his face is covered in deep scars, and his teeth are all razor sharp and pointed, like that of a shark’s, making him look very disturbing when he smiles or opens his mouth. He is the only Prime Asset who is physically as big as a Large Grunt Ex-Pop rather than a Grunt Ex-Pop. He is incapable of speaking full sentences coherently, instead only shouting or exclaiming in response to things around him, although he does occasionally yell out a word or two in Russian. He is a weak chaser, but compensates for this by doing the most physical damage out of all of the Prime Assets, and the traps around his area (The Military Base) are barbed wire ones that Reagents must jump over to keep from being severely slowed by them during a chase.
His lore would be that he’s the nephew of a prominent Russian military officer, and despite having a hip deformity at birth (which causes him to walk and run with a constant, slight limp) that disqualified him from military service and made him suffer bullying as a child, his uncle pulled some strings to ensure that he could serve in the military in the 1950s, which was his childhood dream. Bullied by his squad mates in basic training for being a weak runner, he compensated for this by sharpening his teeth with a metal file on his down time until they were all extremely sharp, which he used to bite through barbed wire obstacles during training drills.
During a graduation ceremony after completing basic training, one of his fellow newly recruited privates, Ivan Vulkovich, decided to prank him by kicking out his weak leg when he went to receive a certificate from his commanding officer commending him for excelling in things such as studying battlefield tactics and officer skills (the less physical aspects of his training, showing that Grigori is much more intelligent than he seems). Enraged, he jumped up from the floor of the stage and bit the man’s lower lip and most of his chin completely off in one bite, making sure to chew it up and swallow it so that surgeons couldn’t reattach it, and then ripped out one of his eyes, right on stage as onlookers screamed in terror at the brutal nature of his attack. He was obviously dishonourably discharged for this, but he ensured that the man he attacked was in no condition to ever serve in the military.
After an unsuccessful attempt on his life from Vulkovich’s brothers, Grigori moved to America, changed his name to Gregory Uselman (you-sill-min), and became fluent in the English language and New York accent in a matter of months.
He soon found work as a nightclub bouncer, where all he needed to do was flash his teeth at any misbehaving club attendees if he wanted to scare them off, although he occasionally used his towering physique and combat training to his advantage to hospitalize a few people who weren’t so easily intimidated (and a few of which went missing only to be later found dumped dead in drainage ditches or behind alleys with wounds that suspiciously looked like shark bites).
After the club fell on hard times, Grigori swooped in and helped the club’s owner, Mr. Albert Janey, make better business decisions and investments to keep himself in the black. As the club regained profits and Mr. Janey got older over the years, the key to the nightclub eventually got handed to Grigori.
Things were peaceful and profitable for the next year or so, until the family of the man he maimed tracked down his new identity and address. On the night of the club’s 40th year anniversary, a drive-by shooting happened at the nightclub, killing 7 people, and mildly wounding Grigori. As the car drove away, its driver threw some files out from the passenger window. One of the survivors of the shooting picked up the files and analyzed them; they were newspaper clippings and copies of documents showing proof of what Grigori had done to get himself dishonourably discharged.
The public was now aware of his brutal past, and within a few months, the nightclub had run out of business. Coinciding with this, Grigori went missing.
The police found him 3 weeks later in an abandoned building, surrounded by torn apart chunks of human flesh and limbs. He had tracked down the Vulkovich’s, used the last of his money to pay the Kamarov crime family (the Russian rivals to the Barbi crime family) to have them kidnapped, shipped back to the U. S., and then brought to him. He spent 3 weeks torturing and butchering the entire family, including its young child members, and eating their flesh, which had caused him to gain 12 pounds.
After killing a cop during the arrest by crushing his windpipe with his bare hands, he was arrested and found not guilty by reason of insanity, as the amount of killing and cannibalism that he engaged in caused him to lose his mind.
Clyde Perry heard of his case, and then got into contact with him. Despite his insanity (he believed that he was still in the Russian military based on how he rigidly saluted his doctors at the end of each therapy session and how he carried himself at nearly all times, lashed out violently whenever anyone touched any meat-based foods on his cafeteria tray, which he would spend as much as 20 minutes chewing before he finally swallowed it, and he refused to speak any English to anyone, despite knowing and understanding it fluently), Perry believed that his extreme physical deadliness combined with his past as a charismatic businessman would make him a suitable candidate for Project LATHE.
His grab animation is striking a Reagent in the side of the torso with his hammer, then grabbing their hand and biting a chunk of meat out of their wrist before tossing them away. His kill animation is biting a chunk of flesh out of a Reagent’s neck after crushing their face with his hammer.
