So, how does the memory recording/projecting/scanning work? I have thought about this for the past 5 minutes and have tried to get down the the most intricate description I can and I'll try to bring everyone down there slowly so it's easier to understand!

Base level: The Owlk's can project memories, and scan things.

Deeper: The Owlk's use a flame to project/record memories, and scan other things.

Deeper: The flame is able to store memories/thoughts and project then into other conscious beings minds as images, as well as scan and gain a basic understanding of anything it can shine on. (Wether or not it can only do that to conscious beings is up to debate, however if that is true it would imply that the Eye of the Universe is conscious and that would be cool)

Even Deeper: The Owlk's either developed or are naturally able to create a flam that can store thoughts, memories, ideas, and other things as images, and is able to scan things and create comprehensive ideas as to what the thing being scanned is in the form of images.

The Owlk'd also developed machines able to enhance this ability in the form of:

Staffs-

Able to project one's thoughts/memories/ideas into another conscious beings mind.

Able to scan things and create comprehensive images of basic/advanced parts of said thing.

(Very vague here on purpose cause we don't know if it's only conscious beings or objects that can be scanned as well, objects would imply extremely advanced technology able to calculate how atoms and chemicals and biology/geology/astronomic consents work together, whereas only conscious beings would be able to be explained as it's able to read thoughts/mental makeup and create a vague idea as to how someone works or interacts with their environment, that would imply the Eye is conscious though and I don't want to assume, I would assume it's only conscious beings but since the Eye is also scanned backing that assumption could be controversial)

Telescopes: Hypothesized (By me) to be able to scan things distantly unlike the staffs? Unsure but this is the technology we know the least about.

And- Campfires: Able to store entire consciousness inside of a simulated reality.

That's the deepest I think I'm able to go though, I don't know enough physics to be able to make a hypothesis on -how- the fires are able to record thoughts/ideas/memories/consciousness, but I can explain what it does with that ability based on things I've seen in the game.
