Those of you who told their therapist/psychiatrist about being alterhuman, how'd it go?
Post Body

I'm seeing a new therapist and psychiatrist this month and I'm debating on telling them. I'm thinking of bringing Alt H's alterhumanity pamphlet to these appointments to better explain. Being alterhuman is a huge part of my life and I feel leaving it out won't be helpful.

How'd it go for you? Did it ultimately help your mental health professional and/or you? All experiences good or bad welcome and very much appreciated!

Comments

Mixed results. Only one, a counsellor at a youth health centre, was worried about it. She referred me to an actual psychologist, and he was not concerned about it at all. I've told some others. I've had several bouts of depression/burnout and have had to get a new therapist each round... but none of them have ever heard of therianthropy/otherkin/species dysphoria before. Their attitude is usually something like "well, you do you", but it's obvious that their schooling usually hasn't really prepared them for something like this.
