I recently found out I may be otherkin(not 100% sure yet) last week. It was in an interesting way too. I had to chose a subculture for my sociology class to do research on and I chose otherkin and therians since I had a friend once that was a foxkin and they talked about how they were afraid to talk about it cuz people around them wouldn’t get it and be rude. So I wanted to share it with my class so maybe they’ll be a little more openminded about these things. But as I was reading about people’s different experiences being otherkin, I found myself relating to it a lot. So I did more research on kintypes and mind shifts and it all just spoke to me so much.

So far I think my kintypes are vampire, elfkin and/or some type of canine. It might definitely be vampire tho cuz for the longest time I found myself obsessed with being a vampire and sometimes I find myself daydreaming about having fangs and doing the traditional vampire lore things and it just brings me so much joy. And lately I’ve also been dressing more similar to elves and I even braided my hair in a way that reminds me of elves and it just feels so right. I was also born with slightly pointed ears(rare mutation and they’re not super pointy, reminds me more of half-elves’ ears) and I love staring at them and showing them off even tho most people find them to be weird.

Since I started learning about this it just made me feel all that more confident, idk maybe that’s a little corny but it’s true. I’m glad there’s a community for this, so we don’t feel alone and strange. I hope to keep learning more about this part of me and find people I can chat with that’ll get how I feel(my online friends have been super supportive which is amazing but they don’t fully understand and so don’t have much to say).
