Hey all! Quick backstory - had a colon resection for rectal cancer which lead to a second surgery due to infection and as a result I ended up with an ileostomy. I’ve had it for about 8 weeks and it’s now starting to prolapse regularly as of last week. I know this is normal occasionally but now mine is staying prolapsed at all times (about 5-6 inches) with the exception of when I’m laying down. I’ve been back and forth with my doctors this week and they don’t seem to think it’s a big deal. Even though I’m no doctor, it doesn’t seem normal to me that the prolapse can only be controlled in a laying down position. The minute I get up it comes out again and causes cramping with less output. I’m seeing my surgeon Friday but was curious what the Reddit community has experienced with prolapses and am I crazy or is this abnormal for it to be out about 5-6 inches this consistently with pain? Thanks everyone!
