What's an Oscar-Winning Performance that is Underrated In Your Opinion?
Post Body

For me, I have to go with Tim Robbins for Mystic River. Everyone focuses on Sean Penn, but he just isn't that great (the "Is she in there?" scene nearly cracked me up). Robbins, however, was a revelation. His meek yet traumatized character gave way for incredibly deep pathos, and he was damn near the star of the movie. I know people occasionally write this off as a Shawshank Redemption makeup award (and Morgan Freeman winning for a different Clint Eastwood movie just one year later doesn't help), but I honestly felt that Robbins was incredibly deserving and it's sad people don't talk about this role anymore.
