My upper molars being pinched in really bother me. I finally accept the reality that my tongue does not properly without me worrying about biting my tongue. What are some good points for arguing this as a medical procedure for insurance?
Post Body

Thought Iā€™d come here instead of legal advice or insurance subreddits.

I am actually now bothered by my ā€œnarrow upper corridorā€. This is not a cosmetic concern. I actually think itā€™s affecting my breathing and airway. And maybe other health conditions that concern with mouth breathing.

I have an overbite. Big front two teeth. And pinched in premolars ā€œNarrow buccal corridorā€. Imagine if you pinched the pre-molars inward with your fingers. Especially the second premolar.

An orthodontist I checked with focuses on expanding the upper palate. But United Healthcare insurance thinks itā€™s ā€œcosmeticā€ because itā€™s from an orthodontist or something like that. I really like this dentist too. He goes to Dr. Mew seminars and is passionate about nasal airway breathing and know itā€™s relation to teeth ā€œpostureā€.

How can I get an expander from a doctor who knows what they are doing with insurance? Or What can I reason to insurance?
