I don't know who all has had the honor to meet the Kimball girls, but if you have, you'll know. Because you probably have one of their handmade hearts they started giving out 3 years ago at one of the blood drives.
Right after Pulse happened, they wanted to do something, anything to help. Their mom is a widow with 4 young daughters then aged around 10 to 14. The girls being to young to donate blood, mom having a hard time with waiting in line to give her self with 4 young girls in tow. The youngest decided to get out some lined paper, crayons, and scissors. They hand colored a few dozen hearts and went to One Blood and up and down the line they went. Giving out hearts and hugs to anyone that would accept either.
Later they attended the wand raising vigil at Universal doing the same. Then the vigil at Magic Kingdom. That night they approached George Kalogridis to give him one, and another guest leaned over and was "Do you know who that is is?" "We know, they don't care. They just see a grieving Cast Member"
They're home schooled and every year their mother takes them on cross country trips to learn about America. And throughout those trips, they give hearts, explain why they're doing what they're doing, and just bring smiles to the faces of those they touch.
3 years later and they haven't stopped. Last update from their mother says they're at over 38,000 hearts given out. Every heart comes with an optional (though almost required) hug.
Their mom is an amazing women. She used to be one of my managers when I worked at Magic Kingdom, and she was our "area mom." About 2 years before Pulse, her husband, their dad, passed away rather quickly and unexpectedly. This family, who by every right only needs to focus on their own wellbeing, spends their time and efforts going out to make the world a better place for others.
I considering myself a fortunate person for knowing then and having my life touched by them.
