Tripped at the finish line

Just starting to paint up my kill team and began with my Kommando Nob; was really trying my hardest to make him look good and it was coming along really well until I did his weapons & metal bits. I decided to try and stipple on some matte black to look like chipping paint and holy shit idk about you guys but I can't believe how bad it looks.
