Old Xbox stuck on xbmc screen

Hi guys, while doing some spring cleaning, the kids discovered my old Xbox in the attic. It reads DVD and games discs without issues. But when I start the Xbox without any game in the disc tray, I see the evoX screen, then the xbmc screen and...it stays there forever.
I remember softmodding that console and playing games and emulators from the HDD. But it doesn’t work anymore. I can still start the console and press Y and white button to get FTP access...
Any idea on what I should be doing? Thanks!
