I'm planning a one-way trip down through Oregon and I see on the map that there are two highway routes between Eugene and Mt. Shasta, both roughly similar in time and distance, one via Route US-58 and Route US-97, and one via I-5.
Is one route better than the other? I want to optimize for nature views in general and specifically mountain views, but also looking for input to pick one over the other for any other reason? I don't have a *ton* of extra time but I do have enough to stop by random viewpoints and enjoy the scenery.
Any advice, tips, viewpoint suggestions, and quick detours appreciated!
I've done Crater Lake already a few years ago, so I'm not looking to do that again.
