So I was looking at a map, planning a bike ride, when I noticed a place called Socialist Valley, up in the Coast Range just past Falls City. I did some Googling, and aside from a very brief mention (like less than a sentence, in an Oregon Encyclopedia entry on the old Oregon Socialist Party) that there used to be some sort of socialist utopian community there back in the early 1900s or thereabouts, I can't find any information. Does anyone know the history of this place? I'm going to go try to check it out in person once the rain stops but would love to have some background!
Updates: Oregon Historical Society doesn't have any info online. Asked a history professor at my local university, never heard of it. Consulted Kopp's Eden Within Eden, a history of utopian communities in Oregon, and it only seems to have a single mention.
