Post Body

This dying phal was being thrown out at a workspace I use, so I took it home with me.

I cut off all of the rotting roots and repotted it in an orchid mix. I didn't have a proper orchid pot, so I just used a plastic berry basket. It has plenty of aeration and the bark mix is chunky enough to stay in. I've had it under a grow light for about 2-3 weeks and just noticed the other day that a new leaf is starting to form!

I'm really excited! This is the first orchid I've ever taken care of. I'm glad it doing so well considering the shape it was in when I got it. I know it probably won't flower again until next year or maybe longer. I don't know what color the blooms were, so it will be a nice surprise when it does.
