First orchid, any tips of potting/potting medium? Tips in general?

I got my first orchid (phal) as I’ve been wanting to try a mini orchid in a terrium but figured I should go for something easy first. I mainly only have experience with Hoyas. Is orchid bark chunks alone okay as a potting medium with some exposed roots and drainage? It came in compacted sphagnum moss in a death trap of plastic tightly binding the roots and moss.
