How high does Latency have to be to make a noticeable difference in realtime applications?
Post Body

I was considering getting the Airpods Max, but I heard somewhere online that the cable you have to purchase from Apple to run them wired adds around 18ms give or take of latency at least according to a DMS video from the past.

The thing is, since I'm blind, I interface with everything with audio. So if I were to play an accessible video game, audio delay is basically video delay for me. WOuld I notice 18ms of added delay? Is there any way to mitigate this?

I was thinking these headphones would be awesome to have since I could use them as closed-back headphones and benefit from the bass as a result, but I could also benefit from being able to hear my surroundings at the same time with transparency mode. Which, to my understanding, is fairly unique in its own way.

That, and being able to drown out the gardeners or something or another by simply hitting a button sounds fairly appealing.

I'm mainly after that awesome closed-back sub-bass performance while being able to hear my surroundings, so that's mainly wha tmakes them appealing. But if you guys think the latency would be too high, that would probably be a deal breaker.

THoughts?
