Any successful hydroponic grows?

I've tried 2x times to grow using a hydroponic setup and the book "hydroponic heroin's as a reference and could not get passed vegetative state...has anyone here successfully grown using this method? Bonus if it was indoors even...about to try for a 3rd time but this time I'm using soil...
