Nerve pain and Pills
Post Body

I had ADR (Artificial Disc Replacement) back in December. Over the past month, I've had issues of burning, tingling, numbness, and loss of motor control on the left side of my body. My left leg hurts so much I can't sleep.

I'm currently taking Gabapentin 300mg 3x a day, Cyclobenzaprine 10mg as needed, and Oxycodone 5mg every 4 to 6 hours. The reason I'm on such a low dose is because I asked to be on that dose. (I know I screwed myself there). I asked for a low dose as I thought I was getting better and was trying to taper off all my medicine. So, as you could imagine, I ran through all the Oxycodone. I'm currently taking Advil and Tylenol as much as I can. I'm also doing hot-cold therapy. I'm telling you, NOTHING is helping.

Is there something better I can take that'll help? I hear diazepam is good. Maybe a stronger muscle relaxer? Is there a stronger opiate that someone found more helpful for nerve pain? Would hydromorphone be better than oxycodone? I'm unsure what to ask when I see my Pain Management Doctor. But I need feedback because of all the pain I'm in. I don't want to feel the pain and need something solid and long-lasting.

Comments

You never ask for anything by name with a pain management doctor. Tell him that your meds arent working and let them decide what to do next, asking for specific drugs is drug seeking behavior, and a red flag for doctors.
