I really need some input on this. I’ve had 5 foot and ankle surgeries in 2 years. I’ve been on large doses of Hydrocodone since February 2021. Prescribed 5 doses of the 10 mg Hydrocodone daily, but I’m really taking 9 a day and 3 at a time now. Because of that I’m running out after 17-18 days every month while being on a 28 cycle. Every month I go thru a 10 day withdrawal. I use Kratom which helps take 50-75% of the edge off. I notice my pain gets much worse for about 72 hours during the acute withdrawals, and sometime around day 5 or 6 I notice a drop off in pain to where it’s even less than when I’m on the opioids. Like so significant relief that I wonder why i even pick up my refill when it becomes available, but I always do because I can’t sleep and feel so much anxiety without them. Right now I’m suffering from something called metatarsalgia, or ball of the foot pain. On 4/20 I injured a few ligaments doing a downward dog. I had ultrasounds done by a podiatrist right away and there was some inflammation, but nothing major. I had MRI 5 weeks after the injury and it was unremarkable. Yet I’m still in 4/10 pain around the clock. I saw The doctor yesterday and he doesn’t think the imaging matches up with the pain, I. Other words what he sees doesn’t justify this dull ache around the clock. I trust this doctor a lot as he’s done all 5 quality surgeries. I’m wondering can the opioids be doing this? I can’t ask this in chronic pain communities because people are SO sensitive about their opioids being taken away, even asking a question that might suggest OIH is real will get you swarmed by angry hornets. I’ve also experienced significant medical gaslighting in the past so sometimes I do wonder if I’m crazy and it’s all in my head. I’m going to pay very close attention to how my foot feels in about a week because I will run out tonight. But has anyone experienced this before?
