fix high contrast images?

I'm trying to compute the center of images, but when I take the image normally and when i take the image using opencv, they look completely different.
Here are the two images.
Is there any way to configure opencv to lower the contrast on the image taken? http://imgur.com/MKGBs2I,1lgEj8z#0
