Unable to log in after updates on Tumbleweed

As the title says, I did some updates ony tumbleweed install and now my user cannot log in.
I cannot log into GNOME or IceWM as my user but I can log in as root. When I try to log in the screen goes black then I am returned to GDM. The only tweak I have made to GDM is to make it use X instead of Wayland .
Is there more I can do to troubleshoot this? Should I be submitting a bug? If so what information is helpful ?
